At less than half the price as the pasties (less than 2£) in the Cornish Bakery next door, this bakery is a bargain and a filling meal. The baguettes are excellent for the price as well, at under 3£. You have to come here at the right time for the pasties to be warm, however. The chicken and mushroom, when hot, is delicious. The other pasties I had were mild to cold, and weren't as good. -

Lots of baked goods here and great coffee. It's a tiny place but it has lots of character. Staff was very friendly and they made our coffee really fast. It was delicious.

The baguette sandwiches, pasties, and baked goods at La Baguette are ridiculously cheap and serve as a great snack in Bath. Everything in the storefront window was under £2. Unfortunately, it was near closing and they had sold out of most of their pasties and sandwiches, and their espresso machine had been turned off for the day. I grabbed their last potato, leek, and cheese pasty, in hopes that it would be a tasty treat, but I was disappointed when it had to be reheated in a microwave. The crust wasn't light and flaky like the Cornish steak pasty I had earlier in the day, and the filling was cold and flavorless. I imagine if I had come in earlier in the day, I would have had more fresh pastries to choose from.

Good, cheap street food. I had a chicken and veg pasty here for lunch and it was delicious. Not fine dining but it does the trick if you're hungry and only want to spend £2.

Baguette Heaven if you love sandwich type snacks. This has been in it's present spot for well over a decade now - when I worked in bath it was one of my favourite lunchtime snack stops.
Right next to the Roman Baths/Abbey forecourt, I used to grab a snack and go sit on a bench at lunchtime with a book. The pigeons were always glad of whatever crumbs I had left over!
The best time to get a baquette is when a batch of freshly-baked bread comes out of the oven, warm and soft on the inside and nice and crusty on the outside (good job I've just had me lunch as I'm typing this!).
There's a whole wide variety of fillings you can have to at your own design if you ask nicely. My favourite was always Brie & Bacon - especially in hot bread as the Brie goes just that little bit melty and yummy.
The Bacon & Stilton Salad was always good, too. For those with a sweet tooth they also sell little pastries and cakes, although I was never all that wild about them. Nice, but a bit ordinary (in my opinion). Give me a wodge of tasty bquette any day!
